© 2017 Liverpool Speech Therapy

Hi, I'm Sophie!

My name is Sophie Humphries and I am the founder and lead therapist of Liverpool Speech Therapy. I have a career spanning 10 years having worked across many settings. I have held positions in various NHS Trusts including Lancashire, Sefton and Liverpool which involved working within mainstream schools, special schools, clinics, client's homes, pupil referral units and children's centres. I was also employed as the Lead Therapist for a number of years within a special school for pupils with diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder and learning difficulties.

I started Liverpool Speech Therapy in 2017 with a drive to provide effective, dynamic and creative therapy, delivering therapy to children when they need it, where they need it and for how long they need it.

I am passionate about changing children's lives and helping them to build communication skills to last a lifetime.

I have extensive experience and specialise in working with children who have social communication difficulties, Autism/Asperger Syndrome, Down's Syndrome, learning difficulties and other neurodevelopmental conditions. I also work with a large number of children who present with specific speech and language disorders.

I have a wide range of post-grad experience in the following:

  • PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)

  • Intensive Interaction

  • Signalong

  • Attention Autism

  • The Curiosity Programme

  • SCERTS (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support)

  • Hanen

  • ELKLAN

  • ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule).

  • Lidcombe Programme for Early Stuttering

When I'm not busy running Liverpool Speech Therapy, I enjoy walking,  yoga and spending time with my little boy.
