For Speech and Language Therapist roles, an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy is required. You also need to be registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).

At LST, we provide supervision that goes beyond the recommendations set by the RCSLT. Newly Qualified Practitioners (NQPs) receive weekly supervision for the first six months, followed by fortnightly sessions for the next six months. After that, supervision moves to monthly, based on mutual agreement between the therapist and supervisor.

More experienced clinicians (Band 6 and above) receive monthly supervision as standard. However, when they first join our team, we offer more frequent support; weekly or fortnightly, while they settle into their role.

Yes, we offer three dedicated team CPD days each year, where we take a deep dive into specific topics. These sessions often involve sharing insights from recent courses or welcoming external speakers to present. Recent CPD days have focused on trauma-informed practice, the use of artificial intelligence in speech and language therapy, and current approaches to speech sound disorders.

In addition, you'll benefit from our unique team days held every Friday. On these days, the whole team is office-based, creating valuable opportunities for collaboration, informal learning, asking questions, and peer support.

We also offer a training budget that can be accessed for specific professional development needs, particularly where additional training would support your clinical caseload.

Yes, we regularly support newly qualified therapists through their competency development with comprehensive guidance. This process is therapist-led and typically takes between 6 to 18 months. Many NQPs have successfully progressed at LST and have advanced into senior roles within the organisation.

Absolutely, yes. We offer both part-time and full-time contracts. Our part-time roles typically consist of either 2.5 or 3.75 days per week, ensuring that the balance between clinical and administrative time remains equitable with full-time positions.

At LST, we work in a variety of settings, including mainstream (primary and secondary) schools, specialist resource bases such as Autism Resource Bases, nursery schools, and preschools.

We also offer services in our clinic setting, where we work closely with both the child and their parent.

Many of our therapists work across both the schools and clinic services, while some work exclusively in the schools service.
