We are delighted to announce the opening of our new clinic, a dedicated space designed to support children, young people, and their families across our local community. Our clinic offers assessment and therapy for a variety of communication needs, with a strong focus on creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every child can flourish.
Communication Access-Friendly Space
Accessibility is always central to everything we do. Our clinic has been thoughtfully designed to be communication access friendly. This means that every part of your experience with us, from the way we set up our space with signage and visual supports to how we share information, is focused on making communication easier and more accessible for you and your child. Even our administrator has completed communication access training, so every phone call, email, or enquiry is handled with clarity, patience, and a warm welcome.
Neuroaffirming and Trauma-Informed
We understand that every child’s communication journey is unique. Our team takes a neuroaffirming approach, which means we celebrate differences, value a child’s individuality, and never aim to ‘fix’ children. Instead, we support them in ways that align with who they are. Being trauma-informed also means we prioritise emotional safety, building trust at every step and working at a pace that feels right for each young person.
Supporting Sensory Needs
We know that sensory differences and needs are closely linked to a child’s ability to feel regulated and ready for interaction. That’s why our clinic can provide a range of sensory supports to help children feel comfortable and at ease during sessions. Whether that’s creating a calm, low-stimulation environment, using movement breaks, or offering sensory tools, we tailor our support so children can fully engage in therapy in a way that feels safe and manageable for them.
Play-Based, Child-Centred Therapy
For younger children or children with higher support needs, therapy often takes place through play. Play is how children explore the world, develop new skills, and build confidence. In our clinic, this might look like role play, games, storytelling, or creative activities, all tailored around your child’s interests and abilities. Play not only makes therapy enjoyable but also provides natural opportunities to model and practice communication, problem-solving and emotional expression.
For older children and young people, we ensure their perspective guide’s therapy. We actively involve them in planning and decision-making, so therapy feels meaningful and relevant to them.
Collaborative Goals and Open Communication
We believe families are partners in the therapy process. From the very beginning, we will discuss goals and targets with you so that you understand every step of your child’s therapeutic journey. We are committed to being transparent about what therapy involves, what progress looks like, and how goals may change over time. We welcome questions at any stage and aim to make sure you always feel informed, supported, and confident about the next steps!
Looking Ahead
We are excited to welcome families into our new clinic and to begin building strong connections within our community. If you would like to know more, or if you are wondering whether therapy might be right for your child, we’d love to hear from you.
